Indigo, Kaohsiung
Hotel / Taiwan / HBA Hong Kong / COMPLETED IN 2016
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The design for Hotel Indigo Kaohsiung was heavily influenced by its neighborhood, the Xinxing District. The vibrant area, occupied by charming boutiques and the commercial harbor, has been influenced by cultures from around the world due to the goods and ideas that have passed through its docks for generations. The design narrative follows the journey of goods arriving at the harbor and making their way to their final destination. Upon entering the hotel, which was formerly a shopping mall, guests will notice hints of its past life with the bold colors and excitement of Taiwanese arcades. Elements of life in the harbor, such as custom seating that resembles tangled purple rope and a reception desk made of bright pink stacked boxes, give visitors a sense of their industrious location.
