The Grand Hyatt Hotel Jeju stands as a luxurious tribute to Korea’s rich cultural heritage. Drawing inspiration from the nation’s past, present, and future, the design seamlessly blends the regal dignity of traditional Korean palaces with the vibrancy of contemporary Korean culture. This vision led to the project’s name, “GOKMA,” which stands for “Gallery of Korean Modern Art.” The hotel is conceived as an artistic interpretation of a national art gallery, where the space itself remains neutral, allowing the art to take center stage. At the same time, the design is enriched with layers of traditional materials, reimagined in unconventional ways to celebrate Korea’s culture and its dynamic evolution into modernity.
