Fairmont, Chengdu

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Qianli Yanxia Jinshuitou or “Gorgeous Clouds and Water in the Distance,” the largest Shu embroidery in China embodies the natural beauty that designers captured in the design of the Fairmont Chengdu. The piece took two years to complete and uses local Shu silk embroidery on an abstract ink photo by Chinese artist Lu Jun. The 336 guestrooms and suites combine contemporary elegance with traditional elements of local Chengdu culture and style. HBA drew inspiration from the surrounding mountains, rivers, clouds, and Hi-Tech Zone to create a palette that soothes and captures the city’s emerging shopping and entertainment district.
