The Grand Mansion, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Nanjing
A Luxury Collection Hotel
Date Completed: 2015 - April
Inspired by the historic Presidential Palace and Oriental Metropolitan Museum, the hotel features an extensive collection of artifacts from around the world that are grand in detail and boutique in look and feel. Featuring a museum within its building envelop, HBA designers blended The Grand Mansion and the museum to create a hotel of timeless character and an expression of an art aficionados' collection. The Grand Mansion offers large architectural spaces with more than 750 pieces of furniture that have been divided into intimate spaces for guests to explore and an international collection of artifacts, sculptures, books and paintings. The design narrative is that of a well-seasoned traveler who returns home to display their artifacts and heirlooms in an intimate and warm space. The grand entry lobby is the starting point of this story and provides a backdrop of archaeological artefacts. The clean architectural lines of the building, juxtaposed with carefully curated collections, create a unique and welcoming space for the global traveler. Linking the floors through the main staircase, there are custom carved stone walls inspired by traditional Chinese cloud patterns that span over three levels throughout the hotel.
